The Pitau is a 6-storey $300M+ development located in the heart of Mt Maunganui, consisting of 3 separate towers connected via a podium basement. The development will have 152 independent apartments and 69 care suites completed to a high-end luxury finish.
Health, Safety & Environment Advisor
As the HSE Advisor, you will lead and influence the Pitau team’s performance and culture in the Health and Safety space from strategy to implementation and monitoring. The role embraces all the usual facets of H&S. You will have a genuine impact on the safety and wellbeing of this team whilst you go about implementing a strategy and set of delivery programmes to meet KPI’s.
We want someone who is happy to get on the ground, doing daily site inspections and 'get their hands dirty' and happy to do the 'donkey work'.
This is a pivotal role not for the faint-hearted and requires the successful candidate to not only be great at Health & Safety, also be highly organised, being diligent, with excellent communication and negotiation skills along with strong administrative skills.
Your work will include providing workplace health and safety across all aspects of the Pitau project to ensure that the company delivers a robust health and safety culture and framework for its people and contractors. You will provide health and safety knowledge, support, training, & processes, and ensure compliance.

To be the successful candidate you will need:
- Tertiary or relevant professional qualification in health and safety
- Minimum 3 years experience in managing H&S systems, policies, and standards, in a construction environment.
- Proven track record illustrating sound knowledge and implementation of best practice health and safety methodologies.
- Up-to-date working knowledge of NZ Health and Safety legislation and industry standards.
- Solid computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, coaching and presenting
- Be great at organising, planning, and prioritising – work to deadlines and under pressure.
- Be passionate about Health and Safety and be able to build strategic working relationships.
