Job TypeFull Time
A leading engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Structural Technician to take a key role in the delivery of technically challenging building projects across New Zealand and also be involved in some of their global projects. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of BIM and Revit processes, collaborating with engineers, and seeing projects through from early design to completion.
Highlights of the role:
- Take the lead on Revit modelling, documentation, and coordination for complex structural projects
- Work with multi-disciplinary design teams across a wide range of sectors
- Help refine digital workflows and mentor others in best practice
About the opportunity
You’ll be joining a skilled structural team where your technical expertise and attention to detail will be highly valued. This role is hands-on — you’ll be responsible for preparing and coordinating detailed Revit models and drawings for reinforced concrete, steel, precast, and timber structures. You’ll also play a vital part in setting up projects, establishing modelling standards, and ensuring consistency across documentation and delivery.
Your role will include supporting engineers through all project stages, coordinating with other disciplines, and helping to drive efficiency through smart digital practices. You’ll also contribute to the ongoing development of Revit systems and templates, as well as provide guidance to both local and offshore drafting resources to maintain quality and accuracy.
This position suits someone who takes pride in producing high-quality, coordinated work, enjoys problem-solving, and thrives in a collaborative project environment.
What you’ll bring:
- Around 8–10 years of structural drafting experience using Revit
- Strong background in consulting and a proven record delivering large, complex buildings
- Understanding of BIM workflows and coordination between disciplines
- Sound knowledge of New Zealand digital delivery and documentation standards
- Excellent communicator who can work collaboratively and mentor others
- Qualification in Structural or Civil Design (Certificate or Diploma)
- A proactive, organised approach and passion for continuous improvement
