Project Manager – Commercial Construction
Bay of Plenty | Commercial & High-End Residential Projects
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a well-established regional construction business delivering a strong mix of commercial and high-end residential projects across the Bay of Plenty.
With a solid workload secured and a promising pipeline ahead, this is an opportunity to take ownership of quality projects while working within a collaborative, high-performing team.
The Role
As Project Manager, you’ll take responsibility for projects from the ground up, leading delivery teams and ensuring each build is completed safely, on programme, to specification and within budget.
You’ll work closely with Site Managers, Foremen, Quantity Surveyors, subcontractors and consultants, providing strong but calm leadership and keeping everyone focused on successful project outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading commercial and multi-unit/high-end residential construction projects
- Managing and supporting site teams, including Site Managers, Foremen and QSs
- Driving programme, quality, safety and commercial performance
- Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and consultants
- Monitoring budgets, costs, variations and overall project performance
- Maintaining accurate project reporting and documentation
- Developing strong relationships with clients and consultants
- Identifying issues early and providing practical, commercially sound solutions
- Maintaining a positive, collaborative and high-performing project environment
About You
We’re looking for an established Project Manager with notable New Zealand construction experience and a strong understanding of the commercial contracting environment.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Proven Project Management experience within NZ commercial construction or commercially focused residential construction
- Experience delivering projects from commencement through to completion
- Strong leadership and excellent communication skills
- The ability to confidently coordinate multidisciplinary project teams
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of construction contracts
- Sound knowledge of NZ building regulations and H&S requirements
- Strong programming, reporting and organisational skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
- A genuine commitment to quality project delivery
Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who can build relationships, lead without unnecessary noise and bring the best out of the people around you.
Why Consider This Role?
You’ll join an established regional contractor with an excellent reputation, a strong team culture and plenty of work ahead.
The role offers variety across commercial and high-end residential projects, genuine responsibility, a competitive salary package and the opportunity to continue developing your career within a successful construction business.
Applicants must have NZ residency and significant New Zealand construction experience to be considered.
