Senior Civil Engineer/Team Leader - Napier

Our client is a well-established engineering consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality land development and civil infrastructure projects throughout New Zealand. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer or Team Leader to join their Napier team.

This is a broad and rewarding role that combines project leadership, client relationship management, mentoring and business development. You'll initially play a key role supporting a significant civil engineering project while also working across a variety of land development and infrastructure projects. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to strengthen existing client relationships, identify new opportunities and contribute to the continued growth of the Hawke's Bay business.

This position would suit someone who enjoys leading projects, developing people, working closely with clients and playing an active role in the growth of a successful consultancy.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the delivery of land development and civil infrastructure projects from concept through to construction.
• Managing project delivery, programmes, budgets and financial performance.
• Construction monitoring and site inspections.
• Reviewing designs and ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard.
• Quality assurance and contract administration.
• Processing progress claims and contract variations.
• Coordinating contractors, consultants and key project stakeholders.
• Developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Networking and identifying new business opportunities throughout Hawke's Bay.
• Mentoring and supporting graduate and intermediate engineers.
• Working collaboratively with the wider leadership team to support the continued growth of the business.

We are interested in speaking with experienced professionals who have:

• A strong background delivering land development and/or civil infrastructure projects.
• Experience gained within an engineering consultancy or civil contracting environment.
• Proven experience leading projects and working closely with clients.
• The ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
• A commercial mindset with the confidence to identify and develop new business opportunities.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• CPEng accreditation would be advantageous but is not essential.
