Intermediate/Senior Engineering Geologist - North Shore

A well-established engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Engineering Geologist to join its team on Auckland's North Shore.

This is an opportunity for someone with 5+ years' experience who enjoys the technical side of engineering geology but is equally comfortable dealing with clients, managing projects and providing practical advice.

The workload is varied, with a strong mix of residential and commercial development alongside infrastructure and more complex geotechnical projects.

You will have the opportunity to take genuine ownership of projects, working from initial investigation and assessment through to reporting, construction input and delivery.

You will be involved across a range of geotechnical projects, including:

• Planning and managing geotechnical investigations
• Engineering geological assessment and interpretation
• Site investigations and construction monitoring
• Preparing and reviewing technical reports
• Providing practical geotechnical advice to clients
• Managing projects from investigation through to delivery
• Liaising directly with developers, architects, engineers and contractors
• Working closely with other technical disciplines
• Supporting and mentoring junior team members
• Developing and maintaining strong client relationships

About You You will ideally have:

• 5+ years' experience within engineering geology or geotechnical consulting
• A relevant Engineering Geology, Geology or Geoscience qualification
• New Zealand consulting experience
• Experience across residential, commercial, land development and/or infrastructure projects
• Strong investigation, interpretation and technical reporting skills
• The ability to manage your own projects and priorities
• Confidence dealing directly with clients and other project stakeholders
• A practical, solutions-focused approach

The role could suit an established Senior Engineering Geologist or a strong intermediate who is ready to take the next step and assume greater project and client responsibility.

This is a position where you can remain technically involved while developing further across project management, client relationships and leadership.
You will be joining an established consultancy with a good variety of work and experienced people around you, but with the autonomy to take ownership of your own projects and clients.
