Senior Civil Engineer - Land Development/Client Leadership

A well-established national engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join its Christchurch team and take a key role across a strong and varied pipeline of civil and land development projects.

This opportunity will suit someone who is technically sound but equally comfortable operating at a senior level with clients. You will be trusted to take ownership of projects, manage relationships and drive work forward independently.

The project mix is varied and includes retirement village developments, residential land development and a broader range of civil projects throughout Canterbury and nationally.

Working as part of an experienced civil team, you will be involved across the full project lifecycle, with responsibilities including:

• Leading civil and land development projects from initial concept through design, consenting and construction
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders
• Providing practical and commercially focused engineering solutions
• Managing project programmes, budgets and deliverables
• Coordinating with surveyors, planners and other engineering disciplines
• Reviewing designs and providing technical guidance where required
• Taking genuine ownership of projects and operating independently
• Supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers

You will ideally be an experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in New Zealand consulting and exposure to land development and civil infrastructure projects.

More importantly, you will have reached the stage of your career where you are comfortable taking the lead. You can sit down with a client, understand what they are trying to achieve, provide sound engineering advice and then take responsibility for delivering the project.

The ideal person offers a good balance between technical capability and client/project leadership – technically credible, commercially aware and confident managing both projects and relationships.

Experience across land development, three waters, earthworks, roading and associated civil infrastructure would be highly regarded.
