Civil 3D Designer - Intermediate to Senior

Harper Smith Recruitment is working with an established and progressive engineering consultancy in Tauranga that is looking to appoint a talented Civil Designer to join its land development team.

With a strong focus on larger greenfield subdivision projects, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced designer who enjoys the technical challenges of land development and wants to play a key role in delivering significant projects.

You will be involved in the civil design of substantial residential subdivisions and land development projects, working alongside experienced engineers, surveyors and other technical specialists.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Producing detailed civil engineering designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Designing earthworks, roading, stormwater, wastewater and water supply infrastructure.
• Working on larger greenfield subdivisions from concept through to detailed design and construction documentation.
• Developing practical, innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Collaborating with engineers, surveyors and project teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
• Taking ownership of technical design and contributing to the delivery of complex land development projects.

About You We are particularly interested in speaking with Civil Designers who have developed strong technical skills within the New Zealand land development consulting environment.

Ideally, you will offer:

• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D – essential for this position.
• 3 years minimum civil design experience 
• Experience designing earthworks, roading and three waters infrastructure.
• A sound understanding of New Zealand engineering standards and local authority requirements.
• The ability to produce accurate, coordinated and practical civil engineering designs.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach.

We are open to both capable intermediate designers ready to take the next step and experienced senior designers who are looking for greater project involvement and responsibility. For an ambitious intermediate designer, this is an opportunity to further develop your technical expertise and gain exposure to larger, more complex projects.
