Junior Engineering Geologist - Christchurch

Harper Smith Engineering Recruitment is working with an established engineering consultancy in Christchurch seeking a Junior Engineering Geologist to join its team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1–2 years' NZ experience in geotechnical consulting who is looking to build on their practical skills, gain exposure to a variety of projects and continue developing their technical capabilities. This role offers an opportunity to further develop your career in a supportive and technically focused environment.

Working alongside experienced geotechnical professionals, you will be involved in a range of projects, combining practical site investigations with technical interpretation and reporting.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and undertaking geotechnical site investigations.
• Geological logging, field testing and ground condition assessments.
• Interpreting geological and geotechnical information.
• Preparing factual and interpretive geotechnical reports.
• Assisting with construction monitoring and geotechnical assessments.
• Working closely with senior engineers and geologists throughout project delivery.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A relevant degree in Geology or Engineering Geology.
• 1–2 years' experience working within a geotechnical engineering consultancy.
• Practical experience in site investigations, geological logging and technical reporting.
• Good communication skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.
• A willingness to learn and develop further technical expertise.

Previous NZ geotechnical consultancy experience is essential for this appointment.
