An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Structural Engineer looking to develop their career with a well-established, New Zealand-owned multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Christchurch.
Our client has an excellent reputation in the engineering consulting sector, with a strong portfolio of commercial and industrial projects throughout Canterbury and the wider South Island.
With a busy forward workload and an experienced structural team in place, they are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Structural Engineer with at least two years of relevant New Zealand consultancy experience.
This is an opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of structural engineering projects, work alongside experienced professionals and progressively take on greater responsibility as your skills develop.
You will join a collaborative structural engineering team working on a variety of interesting projects, from initial design and analysis through to construction and completion.
Depending on your experience, you will have the opportunity to manage elements of projects, develop relationships with clients and other consultants, and take increasing ownership of your work.
Responsibilities
- Structural design and analysis of commercial and industrial buildings.
- Working across steel, concrete and timber structures.
- Preparing engineering calculations, technical reports and design documentation.
- Coordinating with architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
- Undertaking site inspections and providing construction-phase support.
- Developing project management and client relationship skills with support from senior engineers.
Ideally, you will offer:
- A BE degree from a NZ University
- A minimum of two years' structural engineering experience within a New Zealand consultancy.
- Experience in structural building design, ideally involving steel, concrete and timber.
- Good technical and analytical skills, with a practical approach to engineering.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to take on responsibility.
- An interest in progressing towards CPEng registration.
Our client offers the benefits of an established multidisciplinary consultancy while maintaining a friendly, approachable and supportive working environment.
You will benefit from:
- A diverse range of commercial and industrial building projects.
- The opportunity to work closely with experienced structural engineers and technical specialists.
- Excellent professional development and mentoring, including support towards CPEng.
- Exposure to other engineering disciplines within the wider business.
- The opportunity to take increasing responsibility for projects as your experience grows.
- A positive team culture with an active social environment.
- Competitive remuneration, long-term career progression and potential future employee shareholding opportunities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Structural Engineer who wants to build a long-term career, develop strong technical capabilities and become an increasingly important part of a successful Christchurch engineering team.
