Build Your Career. Help Build a Business.
Not every engineering opportunity gives you the chance to help shape the future of an office. A well-established engineering consultancy has recently established a new office in Hamilton and is looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer with at least four years' New Zealand experience to become a key part of its growth. Working directly alongside the Director, you'll play an important role in delivering quality projects while helping establish the business as a trusted name throughout the Waikato. This is an opportunity to have genuine influence, take ownership and help build something from the ground up.
Initially, your work will be focused on residential structural design, with the business steadily expanding into commercial and industrial projects as the Hamilton office continues to grow. If you're looking for more responsibility, greater client exposure and the opportunity to accelerate your career, this role offers exactly that.
The Opportunity
You'll work closely with the Director to:
- Deliver structural design solutions across a range of projects.
- Build strong relationships with architects, builders, developers and clients.
- Take ownership of projects from concept through to completion.
- Help grow the company's profile and reputation within the Hamilton market.
- Identify opportunities, contribute ideas and show initiative in developing the business.
- Become involved in an increasing range of commercial and industrial projects as the office expands.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, building relationships and making a positive contribution to a growing business.
You'll ideally have:
- A Bachelor of Engineering (BE) from a New Zealand university.
- At least four years' structural engineering experience within New Zealand.
- Strong residential structural design experience, with exposure to commercial projects an advantage.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive approach and the confidence to work independently.
- The initiative to identify opportunities and contribute beyond project delivery.
- A personable nature and the enthusiasm to help establish the company's presence within the Waikato.
What's On Offer
- A rare opportunity to help establish and grow a new Hamilton office.
- Direct mentoring and support from an experienced Director.
- Genuine career progression as the business expands.
- The opportunity to influence the direction and success of the Hamilton office.
- A collaborative environment where initiative is recognised and rewarded.
- Long-term exposure to residential, commercial and industrial projects.
If you're looking for a role where your contribution will genuinely matter and you can help build both your own career and a growing business, we'd love to hear from you.
